This Chawan, or tea bowl is 11.5x8cm and weighs 450g, which is a bit heavier than other bowls of this size. It has a textured outside and a two chamber inside that was sculpted using the Japanese technique of Kurinuki. This means it was carved from over 1kg of clay. It is stamped with the Witold Riedel 2024 stamp which I also use for drawings and other work.

The bowl is made of Iberian black clay and was painted with porcelain. Once it was bisque fired it was then glazed and finally treated with semi ink to highlight some of the crackle glaze.

The object can be used for matcha tea. It can be washed with luke warm water without soap. It should not be washed with chemicals or in a dishwasher.
